Studying nature can be as simple as spending time outside and observing what is happening in the air, on the ground and in waterways.  The South Beloit Public Library is now offering nature backpacks to help explore the outdoors.  These backpacks come with real hands-on tools that kids can use out in the field like true scientists, laying a foundation for life-long enjoyment of nature and science.

Nature backpacks are available for checkout.  Each themed pack is filled with activities, resources, books, and equipment that will help you explore the environment.  Nature backpacks currently available include:

  • Birds
  • Trees
  • Insects
  • Stream
  • Nature Art
  • Plants and Wildflowers

How it works:

Nature backpacks are available in person at the South Beloit Public Library using your library card.  The backpacks check out for one week.  There are no renewals for the Nature backpacks.  The backpacks must be returned inside the library.

These backpacks were created to encourage people to explore our new Nature at the Confluence Center and trails; to build outdoor confidence; to meet new friends; to get exercise, to spend quality time together outdoors; to relax and most importantly to have fun!
