Volunteering at the library is a great way to fulfill your service hours from school, give back to the community, and also gain valuable experience. But sometimes it’s difficult to have a regular time slot to do volunteer work.
The library is creating opportunities to get some of your service hours.
High school students can join us on November 10th at 2 pm for the Sobo Volunteer Club. High School students will create cards for Operation Gratitude during this program. All materials will be provided and students can earn an hour of community service time. Snacks will be provided.
Middle school students may join us for our Middle School Makers, November 17th after school. We’ll be creating patches to send to the Capes for Kids Project. Patches allow the kids to personalize their capes with their own name. Capes help bring out the super hero in all of us. Our super power will be helping others. Snacks and all supplies will be provided. And of course we talk about the books we are reading. Students can earn an hour of community service.
For those students with more time to give, a limited number of positions are still available to help with projects on an on-going basis. Fill out the Youth Volunteer Application. Paper applications are available at the library. Your application will be reviewed by the Library Director and staff. If your application is approved, the Library will contact you for an interview. All applicants for these positions must go through an interview and training process.
